About Me

Twenty years ago I discovered Acupuncture and frankly it blew my mind. I was recommending it to everyone who would listen.

So, it was pretty inevitable that Acupuncture became my new path in life and also why I chose to specialise in supporting women through their life stages, as this medicine has supported me.

I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine intensively for three years at the renowned City College of Acupuncture in London and graduated with a First-class degree licentiate. I’m a member of The British Acupuncture Council, which guarantees my training was at the highest level possible, backed by full professional indemnity insurance. Membership of the Council also ensures registration with the Professional Standards Authority, which is a government body accountable to Parliament, giving its members enhanced status with the NHS, and private health insurers.

I’m a regional Affiliate of Hannah Pearn London, a group of fertility specialists and educators and I am also a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, an organisation for acupuncturists with post-graduate training in fertility.

What happens in your consultation

At your first meeting, we will discuss everything in your medical history and your current symptoms. Everything is relevant to your current state of health and how I will treat you. My clinic is a safe, non-judgmental space and everything discussed will be treated as highly confidential. The aim is to uncover the root cause of an issue so that balance in the body and mind can be restored.

I will then recommend how many treatments are appropriate to you, this is a collaboration of your health over the coming weeks and months, moving you to a state of wellness and then to less frequent 'maintenance’ appointments. Acupuncture is a very relaxing treatment and most clients fall asleep.

A key aspect of this medicine is a realistic, bespoke dietary and lifestyle programme, which empowers you to support and maintain your health outside of the clinic for the long term.

About acupuncture: The science

Different acupuncture points are used to direct responses to different areas of the body. Studies on the body have shown that Acupuncture releases neurotransmitters, endorphins, our feel-good hormones (200 times more potent than morphine), and regulates serotonin.

Acupuncture also down-regulates an overactive Sympathetic Nervous System, the body’s ‘fight or flight’ response, and up-regulates our Parasympathetic Nervous System, the body’s ‘rest and relaxation’ response.

Acupuncture can increase circulation, decrease inflammation, ease muscle spasms and increase T-cell count to support the immune system.
